LibreOffice Calc, the Excel and Apple Numbers replacement, also has some great changes. The Paragraph Style dropdown menu also now gives you a list of styles used in the document, rather than the full list of available styles.

Tables of Figures can now be generated based on paragraph styles, instead of just from categories or object names, and bibliography entries can be edited more easily.

Adding the current page number to a document in the header or footer is now just one click, with the updated 'New Page Number Wizard' option in the Insert menu. LibreOffice Writer, the equivalent to Microsoft Word or Apple Pages, has a few useful improvements in LibreOffice 7.6.

The Document Foundation said in its announcement, 'After twelve years and five release cycles – code cleaning, code refactoring, polishing the user interface, extending to new hardware and software platforms, and optimizing interoperability with OOXML to support users – it is increasingly difficult to develop entirely new features, so most of them are refinements or improvements of existing ones.' However, document themes are now supported across all applications, and there are more fixes for opening Microsoft Office documents. LibreOffice 7.6 isn't a groundbreaking update, so if you were hoping for more interface options or wild new online features, you won't find them here.
